About Us
Our Mission
The Environment Department fervently champions the sustainable management and protection of our nation's resources.
With a diverse scope, our work encompasses tasks from managing our Sustainable Forestry License to leading projects assessing Lake Nipissing's fishery. Our core aim is ensuring the longevity and balance of Lake Nipissing's ecosystem, all while preserving our sacred Treaty-protected rights. We're also at the forefront of Wildlife Management on NFN lands, diligently overseeing harvesting and ensuring its sustainability.
Who We Are
Situated on the serene north shores of Lake Nipissing, Nipissing First Nation (NFN) stands as a beacon of history and community. Spanning over 30 kilometers, our land stretches between the dynamic City of North Bay and the welcoming Municipality of West Nipissing. Garden Village, Veteran’s Lane, Mosquito Creek, Jocko Point, Paradise Point, Meadowside, Beaucage Subdivision, Beaucage Village, Serenity Lane, Yellek and Duchesnay are our communities.
11 vibrant communities dotting our landscape, our heritage resonates in every corner.
We, the Nbisiing Anishinaabeg, carry the proud legacy of the Ojibway and Algonquin, having thrived here for over 10,000 years.
Guided by our Gichi-Naaknigewin, we emphasize unity, justice, and accountability, ensuring prosperity for all members.
